个人简介：
· 现年49岁，为一名执业律师
· 生长在古晋,与从商的夫婿Tony HT CHAN育有4名儿女
· 分别在峇都林当小学和盛特丽莎中学完成中小学教育
· 之后毕业于伦敦大学经济学院,获得法律学系学位，同时也是林肯法学会认可的(能出席高级法庭的) 的律师
· 1984年成立了郑氏联合伙伴律师事务所，为该事务所的资深合股人
· 国际狮字会（古晋市狮字会）的茂文忠士 会员
· 她也非常活跃于社会福利工作,并担任社区资源中心智障人士协会秘书
党职简历：
· 1986年入党，参与古晋支部妇女组，2000年转入峇都林当支部。
· 1994年迄今担任党资源研究小组组员
· 1987年迄今担任中央妇女组织法律小组主席
· 1988年至1998年，担任执行委员会成员，中央妇女组署理秘书
· 于中央妇女组秘书处服务，并于2000年迄今担任党中央妇女组署理主席,共三届(9年)
政府职位简历：
· 1991年至1992年，出任古晋海港局董事
· 1993年至1997年，担任古晋南市市政局市议员
· 2000年至2005年，出任砂拉越房屋委员会董事
· 2007年迄今受委任为首长署政治秘书

· She is married to Tony HT CHAN, a businessman, and have 4 children. She grew up in Kuching. Educated at Batu Lintang Council School and St Teresa's Secondary School.
· Graduated from London School of Economics, University of London with a Bachelor of Law. She was qualified as a Barrister from Lincoln's Inn. She is Senior Partner of Cheng & Associates, Advocates, Kuching, which was founded by her in 1984.
· She is a Melvin Jones member of Lions International (Lions Club of Kuching City).
· Cheng Yi is also very active in welfare work and is Secretary of Community Based Resource centre for mentally retarded adults.

· 1993to1997 Councillor of Majlis Bandaraya Kuching Selatan
(MBKS)
· 2000 to 2005 Director, Sarawak Housing Commission
· 2006 to now Political Secretary to the Chief Minister of Sarawak,
