Faith in people

I have been receiving many phone calls and well wishes for my current bid for the SUPP Central Women Chairman. Some are members, others are just casual friends, others are long lost friends.

Tonight, my Batu Lintang women and I attended our Secretary's daughter's wedding - and we sang the Hokkien song ' to win we must fight' - we enjoyed such good fellowship and togetherness. So I was telling them - no matter whether we win or lose the election - we have won because we are so united and we have given ourselves the encouragement we need to start our new term. We have a great team - young & old, so varied are our personal background. That feeling is really precious.

So we are 5 days away to our election. No big deal its only a family affair and we are all comrades even if there may be competition. Our culture is that we are so scared of any elections - that it will split the party. In service organisations like Lions, Jaycees its common place and election is a leadership training process. Our women are now more matured and are now more open to such ideas. It will be a breakthrough. This is what I hope the NEW SUPP Women to be : to have integrity, intelligence and independence...
